News Update: What's "Wooting"

It’s been awhile since we’ve shared more details about our progress, so let’s get you up to speed!

Hi! We’re making a next generation mechanical keyboard

We’ll be attending some events before the year end. For our own research, we’re visiting First Look in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

It will get really exciting when we attend upcoming Dreamhack Winter in Sweden. We’ll have a computer running our prototype keyboard for you to try! We’ll also be streaming the event live and (secretly) handing out stickers. To be continued nearing the event…

Oh, talking stickers, we just made our first thousand.

Are you planning to join any gaming or keyboard related upcoming event? Be sure to let us know!

THE Keyboard

Can you hear the calculating sound of an overheating computer? You should ask Erik Cacao, because he’s been running his machine overtime rendering the new Wooting mechanical keyboard 3D renders.

That’s right, we’ve finalized the mechanical design, and are producing some beautiful 3D renders to share everybody. It’s taking its toll on Erik’s computer, as each render (from limited view angles) can take up to 4 hours to process. The hardest part is to make the material and lighting look realistic, something you can’t check until after the entire process. If all fails, we’ll just have to use our upcoming and very fist prototype version.

There are some detailed changes we’ll elaborate on in next week’s blog, for now here’s a sneak preview:

Don’t miss out!

THE Software

A good keyboard is nothing without good software running on it, and that’s exactly what’s keeping us busy now. To clarify, it’s the core software inside the keyboard. Many of our unique features depend on it, so you can imagine we’re spending a good amount of time on it. We can’t wait to share more about it.

As always
