v4.6.6 - The UwU Release

Released: 23 October 2023

Introduction

Wootility v4.6 brings with it full UwU support, alongside several changes that aim to improve the user experience. If you notice any issues/have feedback, please post in the thread for this release, you’ll find this under the #wootility channel in our Discord.

This release is also the first one to include significant contributions from more (and new) members of the Wooting Team! Namely, David, Khang (both who worked on our Wootomation app) and Pola (our new UI designer). The new Colour tab design was done by Fynn who stepped in to help us out. Additionally, our current intern Qy helped make the visual representation of the UwU lightbar in the UI!

What’s New

RGB Overhaul

This update introduces a new Colour Picker, Recently Used Colour Swatches, and RGB Effect Layers, allowing much more creativity and customisability with your device.

Colour Picker & Swatches

The colour picker is a little bit rounder, the shade slider has been separated, and the swatches have been updated to now show recently used colours when you paint your keys.

RGB Effect Layers

Special Effects now support Layers!

Ever wanted to disrupt your Wave effect with Ripples? Well now you can! RGB Effect Layers behave slightly different for UwUs compared to our regular keyboards.

UwU devices will see the following UI. You have 3 layers to adjust, your Base Layer, Lightbar Layer, and the Per Key Layer.

Our Regular keyboards will see the following UI.

If you have an older Wooting keyboard, keep in mind that due to memory limitations:

  • Layers aren’t supported for Wooting one, Wooting two, Wooting Lekker Edition, Wooting two HE (AVR).
  • The Wooting 60HE (AVR) can have one layer on top of the Base Layer.

Multi-Device Support

Have more than one Wooting device? Tired of unplugging one to modify another? Well now you can connect all your Wooting devices and not have to worry about that anymore!

You can connect and switch between all your Wooting devices in the Devices Dropdown menu located at the top left.

Updated user flows

We’ve changed several user flows and modified our onboarding process to be more streamlined. These flows are still in the works and we’d love to hear your thoughts. Please drop any feedback in the Discord and tell us what you think!

New Welcome Page

A new intro screen has been added to better integrate new Wootility users with our devices. Below is what a brand new user with no connected devices would see.

There are 2 options: the first is to just play around in Wootility with no devices; the second is to connect your brand new Wooting device so you can start customising.

Connecting a new Device

This new flow should better guide users in on how to connect their devices in a step by step basis. Once a device is connected, Wootility will check if it requires an update. If an update is required, we head to the Update Device Page.

Update Device Page

This new flow should help make the whole updating process clearer, going step by step.

When everything is done, you’ll find yourself at the following screen where you can either connect another device, or head into Wootility.
