Demand & Production Planner Specialist / Full-time / Taiwan
Job description
You have a knack for supply chain management and analyzing demand and production forecast performance, identify root causes for variations, and drive improvements in forecasting model(s). You thrive in ambiguity, it gives you an opportunity to create structure, information and a plan for your colleagues to execute on. That’s why you’re also not afraid to approach your colleagues to ask critical question, gather information for your models, and frequently review the inventory planning.
Your responsibilities range from, but not limited to, analyzing demand, trends, historical data, to successfully execute on demand forecasting, creating a production plan, and its corresponding semi-finished inventory requirements.
You’re reviewing Wooting live inventory and demand forecast overview, and see that there was a large gap in expected versus real sales. You dig into the sales reports, and inquiry sales and marketing to explain the shift. Was there a delay in the demand, or a shrink in the demand, or something that caused a hiccup? With new information gathered from the report and feedback from sales and marketing, you update the future expected demand.
The updated demand has a major shrink in future demand, when discussing the inventory forecast with your colleagues, you decide to slow down production to shrink inventory numbers. You jump into the production planning and modify the forecasted purchasing plan. You need to pull the alarm bell, the shrink requirement is great, but productions are fixed for the next 3 month. You can’t modify the plans until the 4th month.
You involve the vendor project manager to find a creative solution, perhaps we can ask the supplier to hold on inventory and use it for the 4th month demand, or the vendor hasn’t completed purchasing the required semi-finished parts.
You publish the new month forecast that reaches up to the 6th month in the future to our vendor coupled with the agreed proposal from you vendor project manager.
The major shrink, also affected some of the required semi-finished goods we purchase on consignment to the vendor. There’ll be an overage, and we need to inform the semi-finished goods suppliers to shift deliveries and adjust our future demand.
You enjoy the dynamics and challenging environment of supply chain management, it’s a real life game that you enjoy playing on a daily basis.
