Industrial Designer / Full-time / Taiwan
Job description
A new product idea emerges, a project is setup, and you get started with the product design (brainstorm) in collaboration with the ID team. You are now part of the product development from its inception up to its mass production.
You get started discussing the product concept with primarily the ID team and CEO. In these discussions the team receives live feedback from colleagues that help steer details. During conception the Mechanical Engineer (ME) and Electrical Engineer (EE) jump in for consultancy on questionable items.
It’s time to start drawing designs, you present 3 different directions and take in the feedback from the team and colleagues, filter out the good and the bad, and start to narrow its design. This is looped until a satisfying product design is settled.
the ME and EE are consulted for the details and a more detailed mechanical 3D design is made. In the meanwhile you’re preparing the Color Material Finish (CMF) document and collaborating on the bill of materials (BOM) with the project manager to effectively communicate with our partner manufacturer.
When ready, it’s sent over, and feedback rounds from the partner manufacturer are processed, details are hashed out, samples are made, and a Design For Manufacturing (DFM) is made by the partner manufacturer. After which it can go into opening tooling/molds.
In the background, your colleagues in packaging and design are working on cool concepts for the product in which you pitch in your thoughts in line with Wooting’s goals.
Design Evaluation Tests (DVT) phase has arrived, this is a defining moment to review the entire product and make sure nothing was missed. This is where you sign off on most golden samples (reference samples for mass production), and make final modifications before it’s ramped up for mass production. This is also the time to start setting quality standards with the technical project manager, to ensurer the integrity of the product during its life time.
Mass production is around the corner, you’re the expert of this product, and join the team to overview the production at the factory. You want to see it come to life and be able to catch any minor issues on the line, before it hits the customer.
You know that if anything comes up during the product lifetime on the market, you’re a part of the discussion, solution, and evolution. Your enthusiasm for computer peripherals, design, and target group is a critical part to Wooting’s success. Because you deeply understand that great products market themselves and great products are forged by passionate people.
