In this update blog we answer 10 questions we often get asked about the Wooting 60HE v2.

You can also watch Calder himself answer all 10 questions in the video below:

Let’s dive in.

Will there be a 60HE v2 Module?

Yes, there will be a module available and it will eventually replace the current Wooting 60HE+ Module. When it’s released, both the 60HE+ and the 60HE v2 Module will be available on our website.

The 60HE v2 Module comes with a sandwich foam pad that can replace the pre-installed friction pad. With the sandwich foam pad installed, you can easily mount the 60HE v2 Module into other 60% cases.

The pre-installed friction pad is specifically designed to fit the Wooting 60HE v2 case and is also compatible with:

  • Optimum case
  • Alumaze60
  • Tofu case
  • Any other case that has similar inner dimensions as the cases mentioned above.

Should I buy the 60HE now, or wait for the 60HE v2?

That’s up to you!

You can have a look at both versions of the 60HE yourself, we’ve listed all the specs and features on the product pages.

I’ll write an extensive blogpost comparing the 60HE+ and 60HE v2 later, so for now I’ll highlight two differences.

Need for speed

If you’re all about performance, the Wooting 60HE v2 supports ‘True 8K Polling’, when you turn on ‘Tachyon mode’ in Wootility, reducing input latency to just 0.125ms

But the Wooting 60HE+ can already achieve an input latency that’s lower than 1.0ms, which should be more than enough for the above average competitive gamer.

Soothing sounds

The Wooting 60HE v2 packs many new components that improve the sound of the keyboard. If you’re into ASMR or really want a supreme ‘thocky’ sound you might want to wait for the 60HE v2.

If sound isn’t your top priority, or you always wear a headset, the 60HE+ is a great pick.

Is the 60HE v2 Module compatible with the GH60 standard?

Let’s first agree on calling it the ‘universal 60% tray mount’ standard instead of the GH60 standard. Calder gets really emotional about this stuff.

The short answer is: yes.

Here’s the long answer:

Friction pad

With the pre-installed friction pad the 60HE v2 Module fits in:

  • all 60HE v2 cases
  • Optimum case
  • Alumaze60
  • Tofu case
  • Any other case that has similar inner dimensions as the cases mentioned above.

Foam sandwich pad

Every 60HE v2 Module also comes with a foam sandwich pad, if you install this pad the 60HE v2 Module fits in universal 60% tray mount cases (aka GH60 standard) that have corresponding mounting points, like the 60HE+ (v1) case.

Will the original 60HE still be sold?

Yes, the current Wooting 60HE+ will still be available for purchase, although we intend to stop selling the 60HE+ eventually and only offer the 60HE v2.

If you’re still kicking yourself for not hoarding Pokémon booster packs 25 years ago to store them away unopened, don’t make the same mistake twice, grab a mint edition Wooting 60HE+ while you still can.

Can I put my 60HE v2 Module into my 60HE (v1) case?

If the question is about the 60HE+ plastic case, the answer is yes.

You do have to remove the friction pad and install the foam sandwich pad that’s included with the 60HE v2 Module to do this.

Will there be a plastic case option for the 60HE v2?

Originally we only wanted to do a metal case for the 60HE v2, but over the course of developing the v2, we now see a place for a plastic case option.

So the answer is yes. We’re currently working on a plastic case and we’ll touch on that topic extensively in a later update.

The biggest benefit of doing a plastic case is that it reduces the overall cost.

Can you swap from a non-split to a split spacebar?

We explored supporting both layouts in one model, but it would have required compromises that weakened both options. In the end, we chose to make two separate versions of the 60HE v2.

That said, adapting to the split spacebar layout takes surprisingly little time.

Once you go split, you’ll commit.

What will the situation be for US customers with the tariffs?

A lot is happening on this front and things are changing quickly, so we can’t really promise anything in regards to the tariffs.

There’s currently (August 2025) a 20% tariff in place.

This doesn’t mean the Wooting 60HE v2 will cost 20% more than in other countries because the tariff is only applied to the ‘import cost value’ and not the selling price.

We’ll share exact pricing when the pre-order campaign starts.

When will the 60HE v2 release?

We will release (and start shipping) the 60HE v2 in Q4 2025. The pre-order campaign will start ~30 days before we start shipping.

To give you a bit more insight:

  • Production of the 60HE v2 Modules starts in September 2025
  • The aluminium case production starts a bit later (October/November 2025)
  • The plastic case will come shortly after the release of the aluminium case.

Will you offer discounts to those who supported you previously and are looking to upgrade?

Yes, we have existing loyalty discounts on other products that you should be able to find in the Wooting Hub.

We haven't yet decided on any discounts on the Wooting 60HE v2 itself for existing supporters.

There will be perks for people who pre-order the Wooting 60HE v2.

That settles it for now. If you have any more questions please let us know by commenting on the video update on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dC1FpPY2OnA
