Wooting 60HE v2 – Your Questions Answered

During the 60HE v2 launch we received a lot of questions about layouts, shipping dates, cases, split spacebars, keycaps, and even knobs. Instead of answering everything one by one in support tickets, we’ve bundled the most common questions into this FAQ.

If you’re still deciding which version to get, or helping a friend choose, this should clear things up.

Let’s dive in.

Do I need to choose which sound dampening option my keyboard comes with?

No.

All assembled aluminium 60HE v2 keyboards and the separate aluminium cases include both sound dampening options in the box:

• a silicone pad
• an EPDM foam pad

You can experiment and choose what you prefer, no need to pick in advance.

The plastic 60HE v2 case only comes with EPDM foam in the bottom case.

Can I choose the strap colour?

No.

The strap colour is tied to the case colour:

Silver case → white strap with yellow Wooting text

Black case → black strap with yellow Wooting text

Why is the keyboard listed as shipping in April next year?

Only the plastic 60HE v2 ships in April.

• The first batch of aluminium models and modules start shipping in December.
• The plastic model is planned for April.

We began development of the plastic case later. Originally we aimed for a metal-only keyboard, but changing conditions in the market, especially tariffs and uncertainty around the cost of aluminium, made it sensible to also offer a plastic model. The extra development time is why it ships later.

When will my keyboard ship, and when will I receive it?

Aluminium and module orders: shipping starts in December (after the campaign ends).

Plastic orders: shipping starts in April.

The first batch of keyboards starts shipping in December, but if a certain layout in the first batch is already sold out, you’ll have to wait a bit longer.

Delivery time depends on:

• your country
• chosen shipping method

You can see the current estimated delivery window in:

• Wooting Hub (if you already ordered), or
• directly on the product page once you click Pre-order and open the cart.

Will I get my keyboard before Christmas?

We start shipping before Christmas, but we can’t guarantee it will arrive in time. How different postal services operate during this busy period is not something that can foretell or have influence on.

If you’re buying it as a gift, go in with the expectation that it won’t be under the tree on time. A good workaround is to gift a card, drawing, or printout showing the keyboard and the order confirmation, with a text “your Wooting is on the way.”

Will a white version be available?

Right now, there is no confirmed plan for a white aluminium 60HE v2.

We originally considered white, but the current manufacturing process uses extrusion + CNC + anodizing. White can’t be done properly with anodizing, it typically requires e-coating and/or paint. Painting an anodized CNC case would add thickness, soften the lines, and remove a lot of what makes anodized aluminium look good in the first place.

So for this run we chose bright silver as the light option.

A white or special edition could happen in the future, but there are no concrete plans yet.

Where is the ISO split option?

It’s there, but how it shows up depends on the case you would like for your 60HE v2

For aluminium 60HE v2:

• There is no pre-assembled aluminium ISO split option.
• But you can get ISO with split spacebar by going the module route:
  • choose the ISO module
  • pick the case
  • add keycaps
• Assembly is very simple: you drop the module into the case and click it into place without the need for screws.

For the plastic 60HE v2:

There is a pre-assembled ISO split spacebar model.

The plastic case doesn’t support the module system, so we made sure this configuration is available as a complete keyboard.

Why this split?

ISO is roughly 20% of total volume, and split spacebar is also around 20%. Combined, ISO + split would only be about 4% of units, which would then be fragmented across multiple SKUs. The module route lets us offer the option without over-splitting stock.

How does keycap availability work with the split spacebar?

• Wooting Double-shot PBT keycap sets include a split spacebar.
• A few older sets may not, but those are being shipped only to people who don’t need the split spacebar keys.
• Our dye-sub PBT and five-sided dye-sub sets currently do not include split spacebar keys.
• Our ABS keycap sets will never include split spacebar keys.

We’re planning to add split spacebars to the dye-sub PBT line in the future. When that happens, we can also add them to Optimum sets (they use the same molds).

What if my non-Wooting keycap set doesn’t have a split spacebar?

You can still make it work:

• The left and right split spacebar keys are the same size as the left and right Shift on an ANSI layout.
• On any standard keycap set, you can take Left Shift and Right Shift, put them in the split spacebar spots, and they’ll fit mechanically.

The profile will feel a bit different, but it’s fully usable and can create a surprisingly nice new feel, especially for certain game setups.

If I bought a 60HE v2 module during the campaign, do I get the Founder perks?

Yes.

Anyone who orders a 60HE v2 (assembled or module) during the campaign period receives the Founder perks.

Will there be Black Friday discounts on the 60HE v2?

We don’t discount the 60HE v2 directly.

Do the Lekker Tikken switches in the 60HE v2 support the existing spring packs?

Yes.

The 60HE v2’s Lekker Tikken switches support the current spring packs, so you can tune the weight to your preference.

Is the 60HE v2 better than the 80HE?

From a pure performance perspective, they’re very similar. The general idea is for the 60HE v2 to be on the same level as the 80HE

The 60HE v2 has fewer keys, which allows it to scan very slightly faster in theory, but in practice you won’t notice the difference.

So don’t choose between them based on latency alone. Focus instead on:

• layout (60% vs 80%)
• typing feel
• sound
• what’s included in the box

Do I really need another Wooting?

If you have no budget constraints: sure, why not, get another, gift one, spread the love.

If you do have a budget:

• Ask yourself if you’ve used your current board for at least two years and whether you’re on an older model (e.g. 60HE or 60HE+).
  • If so, upgrading to 60HE v2 will be a noticeable step up.
• If a full new keyboard is too much, the best price-to-impact upgrade is to get the new Lekker Tikken switches. This is more affordable and makes a big difference to feel and sound.

Will Optimum keycaps include a split spacebar?

Not yet.

Optimum keycaps share molds with our dye-sub PBT sets. Once we update those molds to include split spacebars, we can bring them to Optimum as well. For now, there is no confirmed date.

Are the knobs still on schedule?

The short answer: not fully.

• The large knob is in good shape. Reliability and durability look strong, and it has a good chance of hitting its target.
• The small knob is more complex and sensitive. We’re still refining it, and we’re prepared to delay it if needed to ensure reliability.

We don’t want to rush the design just to hit a quarter. If it’s not ready, we’ll push it back rather than ship something that isn’t solid.
